Law Enforcement & Child Safety Policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026

PART A — Public policy

1. Our commitment

OmegleNet is for adults only and has zero tolerance for child sexual exploitation and abuse. We use age checks, automated image screening (including matching against lists of known child sexual abuse material), user reports and human review to find and remove it. We report it to the authorities.

2. Reporting to NCMEC

Quantumplug Technologies LLP reports apparent child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and facts or circumstances indicating child sex trafficking or the online enticement of children, to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline, as required by 18 U.S.C. §2258A. NCMEC may make reports available to law enforcement in the US and around the world. Where the law of another country requires reports to a national authority, we report there as well ([e.g. UK National Crime Agency, when UK reporting regulations apply]).

When we submit a report, we preserve its contents and related data for at least one year, as US law requires, and store it securely with restricted, logged access.

3. What data we may have

OmegleNet has no accounts and doesn't record audio or video. Depending on timing and our retention schedule, we may hold:

  • an internal user ID and a random device ID;
  • a keyed hash of an IP address (not the IP address itself). Recent connection logs may hold IP addresses for up to 30 days;
  • text messages sent in a chat (30 days);
  • still safety snapshots from video chats (a user's own camera or the video they received; up to 90 days, and at least 1 year for flagged snapshots placed on legal hold);
  • reports, moderation actions and bans (365 days).

We cannot provide recordings of video or audio calls, because they don't exist.

4. Requests from law enforcement

  • US: we disclose non-content records in response to a valid subpoena or court order, and content (for example chat messages or snapshots) only with a search warrant, as required by the Stored Communications Act (18 U.S.C. §2701 et seq.).
  • Outside the US: please use an applicable mutual legal assistance treaty (MLAT), letters rogatory or, where applicable, the EU e-Evidence Regulation or the US–UK CLOUD Act agreement. We review direct requests case by case under applicable law.
  • Preservation requests (18 U.S.C. §2703(f) or equivalent): we'll preserve available data for 90 days, renewable once for another 90 days, pending legal process.
  • Emergencies: if you believe someone faces an imminent risk of death or serious physical injury, email hello@omeglenet.com with "EMERGENCY" in the subject. We may disclose information voluntarily (18 U.S.C. §2702(b)(8), (c)(4)). We also notify authorities ourselves when we become aware of such a threat (EU DSA Art. 18).

Requests must come from an official government email address and include: the requesting authority and officer, the legal basis, the identifiers you have (user ID, ban ID, date/time and time zone, room ID if known), the data sought, and a return contact.

Send requests to: hello@omeglenet.com · Quantumplug Technologies LLP, Attn: Legal, Darbhanga, Bihar, India

5. Notifying users

We notify users about requests for their data unless the law forbids it, a court order prohibits it, or notice would put someone at risk or harm an investigation. We never notify users about CSAM reports.

6. Transparency

We plan to publish, at least once a year, the number of NCMEC reports made, government requests received and complied with, and moderation actions taken.
